Staff Sergeant Stone became a member of the Band of the Smoky Mountains in May 1999, serving as Hornist and Vocalist. SSgt Stone graduated from Basic Military Training at Lackland Air Force Base earning distinction as Honor Graduate, a recognition limited to a maximum of 10 percent of each flight, through demonstrating excellence in all phases of academic and military training, earning no less than 90 percent on all written examinations, passing all graded inspections, never receiving a negative mark in written evaluations, and exceeding the minimum standards on all physical fitness evaluations.

In 2001, SSgt Stone graduated Summa Cum Laude from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, earning the Bachelor of Music degree with an emphasis in Instrumental Music Education. During her tenure at UTK, SSgt Stone studied horn with Calvin Smith and was a member of the Pride of the Southland Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Horn Ensemble, and Studio Orchestra. In 2010, SSgt Stone earned the Doctorate of Optometry, graduating Magna Cum Laude, from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee.

In her civilian life, SSgt Stone is employed as an optometrist with Drs. Foster, Steele, and Stone Family Optometry in Newport, Tennessee. A native of Oneida, Tennessee, she now resides in Knoxville, where she enjoys photography, spending time with her husband Danny, playing with her dog Annabelle, and taking on her new role as mother to a baby boy born March 2011.
